Family Guy...Alito.

1) Has anyone noticed how many "The Music Man" references are in Family Guy? I've counted two thus far - the sequence where Lois and Brian are talking in scales while the kid plays the Piano, and the time when Peter breaks into Shipoopi in teh football game...

2) Does anyone think it's strangely symbolic that Coretta Scott King dies on the same day that Samuel Alito gets sworn in as the 110th Supreme Court Justice? Something along the lines of "The Death of Civil Rights?"

Just a thought.

Rest In Peace, Mrs. King... and America's hope of making any more progress in its admittedly slow journey towards equal rights for all...

I've actually been noticing how much musical theater has become a staple of shows in general. It seems that since The Simpsons made it OK to do musical numbers, all kinds of shows (but mostly animated) make semi-regular use of musical numbers. It used to be that they were poking fun of musicals and I suppose they still are, but you can tell they have a legitimate appreciation for the genre.
